My own “Heartbleed” – would you believe ?

It shouldn’t have happened

But it did, for so many years I avoided this opportunity that comes into one’s life like a typhoon that rages through your heart leaving a gaping would to fester and leave you in pain.

He didn’t even bother to present himself to me, he got into the house under the pretext of a temporary refuge. All the others that I’ve had in the past had wagging tails, upright ears and wide open eyes. He ignored me completely, and focused his attention on my naughty daughters. They knew that storyline would work on me. Such a gentle heart I was supposed to be.

So he grew with the children all around him, fussing over him the whole day, grooming, feeding, cleaning. That was fine with me as long as the house was clean, no ticks, no fur anywhere around. But they pampered him no end and he kept away from me. He was even friendlier with non-family members but close friends of the girls.

Then kapow, it happened. My elder daughter decided to study and earn her college degree in a faraway place that could only be traveled quickly enough by air, but still it would take over 16 hours to complete one way. At least my second daughter was still around to fill in her shoes so well that he carried on as always.

Then bam, my wife and daughter decided to go on a vacation for a couple of months that left only me to look after him. That was a given. I had no other option but to have a crash course in the fine art of caring for him while they were gone.

Tale Wagging The Dog

“Tearing away at the fabric which binds me is just one way I can lighten the load and find a clearing in the woods to lay down and do my work…unencumbered by the weight of my own fancied expectations and lies of the mind.”

Message in a Bottle

Now that's a hang dog expression Now that’s a hangdog expression

We all have them.

Those stories.  You know the ones – the little tales and fables that we create and tell ourselves over and over again.  And sometimes trumpet to others.  The stories that we act out on.  The ones we rehearse and perform and perfect and groom and preen and fuss over.  The ones that adorn us like glittering stones and sunset-coloured scarves.

The little white lies, the booming whoppers, the threads of delusion that shoot through our lives.  You know those ones.  And we stamp our lives with them like they are golden sheets of truth and hold up to the light of scrutiny.

It’s the things that we tell ourselves and believe them.  Things like:

  • I wasn’t meant to be happy
  • I was never a pretty child
  • Everyone I know is fake but me
  • Girls don’t like going for a guy like…

Cuscus cu omleta si sos de usturoi / Omelet couscous with garlic dip

“Serve it with the garlic and sour cream sauce and the omelet. I’ll tell you that you will like it. If you are fan of a light meal and you like to try combinations rarely found, I assure you this dish will be served again in your kitchen.”

c0

Avem nevoie de:

  • 50 gr cuscus
  • 3 linguri smantana
  • 4 catei usturoi
  • Un ou sau doua
  • Sare si piper
  • Si putin patrunjel

Pregatim oul in putin ulei, il facem omleta. Eu am folosit doar un ou cu fulgul pe el, direct din cuibarul parintilor mei.

c2

Intre timp punem peste cuscus aproximativ 140 ml de apa fierbinte si acoperim bolul. In 5-8 minute se va inmuia si poate…

Heartbleed Security Update

WordPress.com has taken steps to deal with the Heartbleed vulnerability. Here’s what you need to know.

The WordPress.com Blog

Last week, a very serious bug in OpenSSL was disclosed.  OpenSSL, a set of open source tools to handle secure communication, is used by most Internet websites.  This bug, nicknamed Heartbleed, allowed an attacker to read sensitive information from vulnerable servers and possibly steal things like passwords, cookies, and encryption keys.

Was WordPress.com vulnerable to Heartbleed?

Yes. WordPress.com servers were running the latest version of OpenSSL, which was vulnerable. We generally run the latest version of OpenSSL to enable performance enhancements, such as SPDY, for our users. The non-vulnerable versions of OpenSSL were over two years old.

Has WordPress.com fixed the issue?

Yes. We patched all of our servers within a few hours of the public disclosure.

Has WordPress.com replaced all SSL certificates and private keys?

Yes. Out of an abundance of caution, we have replaced all of our SSL certificates, along with regenerating all of the associated…

Properly Hard Boiled Eggs

“the story has it that the Egg symbolizes the empty tomb of Jesus in that the outside of the shell looks empty but the inside is full of fertility and a sign of rebirth that He will rise from his Tomb.”

Easter is right around the corner which means hard boiled eggs are on the menu. If you are one of the many people wondering what an egg has to do with easter the story has it that the Egg symbolizes the empty tomb of Jesus in that the outside of the shell looks empty but the inside is full of fertility and a sign of rebirth that he will rise from his Tomb.

In culinary school we learn that if you cannot properly prepare an egg than you are useless in the kitchen. There are probably over fifty ways to cook an egg but the simplest is the hard boil, and with only 78 calories and 6g of protein it is probably one of the most popular preparations, and did we mention eggs are the most affordable protein available.

Malaysian 370: More Loss Ahead.

But based on the real-time performance of the Malaysian Aviation Ministry as it has unfolded since the jet disappeared, there’s little hope that the facts aren’t just a deeply buried and even less likely to be recovered as the missing jet, because of three cold, hard facts: politics, incompetence, and liability.

The JetHead Blog

At least as important as finding the wreckage of Malaysian Flight 370 is uncovering the facts that caused the disaster.

First, the political factors that mortgage the Malaysian investigation of this tragedy. Most of these center around the Malaysian Acting Minister of Aviation–a post left vacant since May of 2013–who is also the appointed Minister of Defense,  Hishammuddin bin Tun Hussein.

mh370-press-briefing

Hussein’s official resume  lists neither aviation nor military experience or expertise, and his primary qualification to hold both titles appears to be largely that he is the son of Malaysia’s third prime minister, Tun Hussein Onn, and…

Sharing Angelica Bakeshop, Cebu – Themes of Sports and Toon

Monday, April 14, 2014

I definitely think the children will love these two especially the hyperactive ones and the girls. The theme of the first one is Sports.

Here we have a football on top of  a double layered cake in white and purple cover with a bouquet of roses in front and behind it. The birthday wishes is inscribed on it. 🙂

Image

Next we have a popular toon character Frozen a snowman in a light blue covered rectangular cake with images of snow crystals that slowly fall to the ground all around the snowman, and of course the message for the celebrant not forgotten. 🙂

If you are a pasta lover, not reading this blog will be a mistake
